Munay Cat’s Claw | Uncaria tomentosa
Uncaria tomentosa, or Cat’s claw, is a vine that grows in the Amazon rainforest of Peru, Ecuador, Brazil, and Colombia. The name comes from the hook-like thorns that resemble the claws of a cat.
Cat’s claw has a long history of use among native people of the Amazon. Modern scientific literature supports the many therapeutic applications of Uncaria tomentosa. Beneficial effects have been reported in a range of ailments including chronic inflammatory diseases like arthritis, bacterial, viral and parasitic infections, and even cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s.
Due to its immune-modulating and anti-inflammatory properties, Cat’s claw is used for:
- Balancing immune system
- Fighting infections due to its antimicrobial, antiviral and antiprotozoal properties
- Protecting against oxidative stress with its antioxidant activity
- Chronic inflammations
- Cognitive health, memory and focus (with reported anti Alzheimer’s disease activity)
Cat’s claw is dubbed as the ‘clearer of the way’ by indigenous people. Cat’s claw is believed to help in clearing the digestive tract.
Production Process:
Our liquid Cat’s claw extract is made from the highest quality Cat’s claw inner bark, carefully selected and harvested by a Kichwa community in the Amazon. This powerful extract is made using a proprietary extraction process that preserves the full spectrum of beneficial compounds found in the Cat’s claw vine.
The Cat’s claw vines are extracted under strictly regulated processes in which the temperature never surpasses 38 degrees Celsius. This guarantees that beneficial bioactive compounds stay intact. We concentrate this product under vacuum at ambient temperatures during which all extracted phytocompounds remain in their natural synergy. We call this type of extract a full spectrum concentrate.
Ingredients:
Uncaria tomentosa, Water, Alcohol (50%)
